Biography
Dr. William R. Freed is an Assistant Professor in Education and Coordinator of the Secondary Education and Principal Certification programs at Penn State Harrisburg. He also teaches graduate courses in Curriculum and Instructional Design, School Law and School Educational administration as well as supervising student teachers and consulting with school districts and individuals on curricular, legal and administrative issues.
He received his B.S. from Bloomsburg State Teachers College (Bloomsburg University) with majors in Mathematics and Social Studies. His graduate studies were concentrated in Educational Administration with an M.A. from Villanova University and an Ed.D. from Lehigh University.
Dr. Freed spent 36 years in public schools including 10 as a classroom teacher and mathematics department chair, 10 as a building administrator and 16 as a superintendent of schools. During that career he was selected as outstanding Young Educator, was awarded a National Science Foundation grant for advanced study in mathematics and received special recognition from the American Association of School Administrators for his participation in National Academies for School Executives.
