Biography

Samuel W. Monismith, D.Ed., is an Associate Professor, Health Education, in the School of Behavioral Sciences and Education at Penn State Harrisburg. He serves as Academic Coordinator for Graduate Studies in Health Education.

Prior to his current duties, Dr. Monismith was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the Milton S. Hershey Medical center from 1985 to 1987. While at the Medical Center, Dr. Monismith coordinated patient education and health promotion programs. Before going to the Medical Center, he was the Director of the Total Alcohol Awareness Program and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Health Education at the University Park campus of Penn State. He also worked for two years with the Bureau of Occupational Health, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Monismith has been active in teaching, writing, research, and continuing education program development. He has organized and conducted programs and workshops focusing on worksite health promotion and substance abuse, marketing wellness programs, stress management, diet and weight control, alcohol education and smoking cessation.
