Activity:
Coach Your Students into Using Correct Conventions

Join us in a day of activities guaranteed to help you and your students become more involved with their studies of the conventions: grammar, mechanics, and usage. Both you and they can have fun at the same time as you teach and they learn the correct conventions for writing. This interactive workshop will give you strategies and techniques for effectively teaching grammar and conventions to your students. We will be out of our seats playing games, writing on walls, and building sentences as we explore various ways to involve our students in their studies of sentence structure, style, mechanics, and usage. You’ll see that conventions can, in fact, be taught in an interesting way.

Activity:
Teachers as Writers

Join Us Today!

Teachers as Writers, CAWP's writing group for Fellows and teachers, is organized around the belief that teachers of writing are more effective when they spend time writing themselves. Supported by the National Writing Project, our writing group gives all teachers (K-16) the time and place to work together as they develop and process their personal or professional writing.

Please bring your journal, your work, a possible prompt and your listening skills. Bring whatever work for which you want a response, whatever you are writing now, or whatever you wish to write with you. In our small group setting, we will respond to each other's drafts, share writing ideas, and perhaps respond to a writing prompt.

We will revisit the idea of writers working in coffee houses or public houses by meeting at Cafe Fresco in the Scottsdale Plaza across from the harrisburg Mall. Look for TAW in the back room; we will treat you to food and beverage. See you soon! Our next meetings will be announced today.
